Over the past few days the Lord seems to be impressing on me the need to be careful with the words I speak. There are a lot of scriptures on this topic and how important it is to be careful to bless others with what we say and not curse or bring others down with degrading remarks and speaking the truth. Along with that is being careful about what we speak of ourselves. We need to have humility and yet know that those who are children of the God who created all the heavens, earth and sea, He holds us as precious in His sight.Ponder this, if God loves us so much and can forgive us when we wrong Him, how can we say we are unworthy when He’s already paid the price for that forgiveness and gives it to us as a gift. Should we not accept this gift from Him, forgive even ourselves and continually praise Him for His mercy and grace? I’m speaking to myself here and I am still working on it!”Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear.” Ephesians 4:29James 3 speaks of the tongue being uncontrollable and even “is set on fire by hell.” He says that if we can control our tongue then we can control our whole body. If this is so, look even deeper and see where the words come from… Jesus says in Mathew 15:11, 18-20a “‘It is not what enters into the mouth that defiles the man, but what proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man.’ …
‘But the things that proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and those defile the man. For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, slanders. These are the things which defile the man;'”It is a heart issue that needs to be dealt with so that our words may be pure in the sight of our Lord. I pray these two Psalms of David that the Lord may help keep me from speaking evil.
“Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth;
Keep watch over the door of my lips.” Psalms 141:3
“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
Be acceptable in Your sight,
O LORD, my rock and my Redeemer.” Psalms 19:14
Paul exhorted those in Colossae saying, “Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.” Colossians 3:17
There have also been several thoughts cross my mind of “guarding our thoughts” but I must stop here for now. Go to Ephesians 6 and 2 Corinthians 10:3-6.
Up and up everything is growing! Weeds, berries and vegetables the Lord is blessing and most everything is thriving with the moisture which He has so graciously provided. Though we plant the seed and maybe even water and fertilize it, the Lord is the one that causes it to grow!
Get your kraut and slaw cutters out! We are about to harvest the bulk of our cabbage over the course of the next week and a half to two weeks! This year the Lord has blessed us with some of the most beautiful cabbage we have ever raised! While many of the heads are a little small they are perfect for a weekly head of cabbage. There are a few heads of beautiful red cabbage we’ll be harvesting as well!
The green beans will be coming on strong next week and they should continue producing heavy for the next two or three weeks! To go with those delicious green beans our new potatoes are coming along nicely and I am harvesting those now also!
I anticipate harvesting a few jalapenos, squash and small amounts of basil next week also! It won’t be long until both the squash and basil will be producing nicely Lord willing. Our burpless cucumbers are growing well also and I’m not quite sure if there will be a few ready next week or the week after. The white spring turnips, beets and kale have really been coming on great too!
Looking forward to a few weeks out… Around the first week or two of July we may have a few blackberries starting to ripen and then by mid July the tomatoes should really be kicking in heavy!
We have just started trying to catch back up with all the garden since the strawberries are finally finished. G-Jean has been spending long hours slaying weeds and has been making great headway! There is still a lot of area to cover, but where she’s been is looking great!
I have been working on setting up some of the tomatoes and peppers with irrigation and mulching. It was a blessing to have some volunteers help us begin this process and hoe in some natural fertilizer just prior to our last rain!
Completing the tomato’s irrigation, mulch and caging is on the list amongst other things like digging garlic, renewing the strawberry patch, cleaning out the weeds, spreading some natural fertilizer around the new strawberry plants and setting up their irrigation… Ok, that’s enough! I better get back to work! 🙂
May you each have a beautiful and very blessed week!
